Jack Aldridge was in the 1st/5th Lincolns and not in the 1st Battn. as suggested. Jack was of advanced years when he told me all about his time in the Barton company yet anyone who knows me would say that finer detail could have escaped either of us.

Killed in action on the opening day of the terrific battle of Amiens. The tanks were exposed in their assault to short range German cannon fire. Harold was the son of Frank Wright Hope and Jane. He was born at Wainfleet in East Lincs. H is buried at Bouchoir New British Cemetery-reference VA.16
